Citizen of the Year Banquet

 
 


The Fairfax County Federation of Citizens Associations, along with the Citizen of the Year  co-sponsor SAIC, hosted the Sixtieth annual Fairfax County Citizen of the Year Awards Banquet at the Crowne Plaza Tysons Corner hotel. The Federation and SAIC presented Clark Tyler the 2009 Citizen of the Year Award for his leadership as chair of the Tysons Land Use Task Force from 2006 to 2010

Federation President Jeff Parnes acted as Master of Ceremonies, while SAIC Vice President Douglas Koelemay welcomed the banquet guests.

The Honorable Bob McConnell, Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, was the featured speaker

In addition to the Citizen of the Year Award, the Federation presented Citations of Merit to Mr. Harry Glasgow in recognition for his 15 years in cultivating increased public understanding and support for preservation and protection of the county’s rich natural resources, Mr. Jim Southworth in recognition for his years of volunteerism and leadership with Fairfax Public Access, and Mr. Drew Tener for his embodiment of a true spirit of citizen volunteerism in leading efforts to change the lives of young boys just beginning their academic careers, and instilling an ethics of citizenship in young men like himself.
